Just got this...
DVLA have been notified electronically about you latest payment for your vehicle tax failed because there is not enough money on you debit card.
Your vehicle is no longer taxed.
We have generated a new invoice, and we suggest you to use a credit card instead of a debit, to avoid any other consequences that might appear in case again won't be enough funds inside.
Pay Now ⟩
If you do not pay your fine on time your vehicle could be clamped or crushed, or your details passed to a debt collection agency.
You may wish to save or print this email confirmation for your records.
Do you think I can safely assume this is a scam of some sort?
Thanks.
I say this quite frequently on here, but if you suspect something to be a scam, just copy, or type, some of the wording into a search engine, here’s what I found when I did it on your enquiry: https://www.express.co.uk/life-style/cars/1408791/dvla-scam-warning-road-tax-payment-email-fraud
Thank you, I did ask in here in panic, now I re-read it I can see the spelling/grammar errors.
Sick of them, if it's not DVLA, it's BT/HMRC/Amazon and lord know who else.
Given that the authorities are unable to trace where the scammed money goes – there is absolutely no risk whatsoever of the perpetrators of these scams of being caught. Until that changes this will go on and on.
