Buying clothes
4 Answers
Why is it that I have a pair of 40/30 size jeans that fit me brilliantly but I went into Burtons yesterday to buy 2 pairs of jeans in exactly the same size and they are nowhere near big enough? Surely sizes are sizes and should be the same wherever I buy clothes from or am I being totally stupid? The missus says she has the same problem, a size 14 in one shop will be too tight but a size 12 in another shop will fit perfectly

40/30 should be the same anywhere though - they are actual measurements. 12, 14, etc, are just relative sizes and don't have fixed definitions.

this really annoys me.
i have 2 daughters who get really upset when, what they percieve as a thin persons size, fits them in one shop but not in another. they always say that that must mean they are the larger size.
And don't get me started on kids clothes - Age 6-7, Age 10-11 ect.
you only have to look a class full of children to know that they are no where near the same size.
