I certainly do feel lucky and blessed, so far I have had and am having a wonderful life.

So my Mum or I should have persuaded my Dad to become a Conshie rather than go off to fight and get killed in WW2. Because we didn't we were unlucky and lost him. I see what you mean. I wish I'd had such wisdom at the time, but I was only 5 weeks old when he left for the Western Desert.

My father was caught at Dunkirk
and by 1945 was not feeling particularly blessed

( he said a year was quite enough) - knowing the FEPOWs had a far worse deal wasnt a lightner and - - thought he should have joined the south african forces who .... fought in the western desert

My old dad was the same Canary.Was at Dunkirk,Tunisia,Salerno landings and Anzio landings.Got captured near the end of the war.My hero,my inspiration,my blessing..along with my beloved mam,of course.

I know many who are not as fortunate as me health-wise, wealth-wise, family-wise, occupation-wise. Whether or not all that is down to luck is debatable. More a mix of determination, hard work and luck in equal parts.

In many ways life has been very good to me and I cannot grumble. In other ways I've had severe heartache and pain to deal with at times and there are decisions I wish I'd made differently.

As life stands now, the future looks promising and I have everything I've ever wanted. A lottery win would be nice so I could give up work, but doesn't everyone dream of that...?

Lcg if I won the lottery I’d buy my friends daughter a nice 3 bedroom house for her and her little family, he ex is treating her horribly and in front of the kids, calling her a fat c***, then his girlfriend is in the car shouting abuse at her, V.has a good job and wouldn’t take benefits but my God the girl struggles, I’d love to say “ Here love, the keys to this house and a cheque for £25,000 to furnish in how you want it, I dream of being able to do that :0(
