Can anyone explain why the BBC is worried over the TV ratings, such as the viewing figures between the BBC and ITV, there is always rating wars over say Eastenders and Coronation St. The BBC is guaranteed income through license fees, if they just put the test card on view the money will still come to them, whereas the ITV has to depend on commercials for their income they need viewers. So why are the BBC worried?
The Beeb depend on the revenue from the TV licence fee. Every year (?) They have to go before a commitee and justify their projected budget. Part of that justification will be making programmes that are popular. Hence their interest in TV ratings.
