Making my sarnies this morning, I read the label on my supermarket sliced cheese.

It proudly boasted that the cheese was 'hand selected'.

Should I be impressed?

I have just retired from Butlers Farmhouse cheeses and our cheeses were selected for the customers by the grader, not all buyers for each supermarket are looking for the same taste in a cheese, so what is good for say M&S might not suit Sainsbury or Waitrose etc. I must say though all our cheeses are hand made and not by machine so there is always a variance in the...

How do you hand select cheese? Just take the next one off the shelf, I would have thought.

Perhaps you have to give it a little squeeze.
Hope they washed their hands before they selected it.
