Went to Lidl today to buy some morning rolls. Bakery section was completely bare. Assistant said they didn't get a delivery of flour so nothing made today. Bakery is very popular so they must have lost a lot of dosh. Perhaps this is just a local problem?
"Lidl launched its in-store bakery service in 2011. It operates on a bake-off basis, with goods coming in unbaked or part-baked and then finished off in specialist ovens in store. ... On the sweet side, Lidl offers Belgian buns, doughnuts, muffins and pastries among other things.28 Apr 2021"
I guess the flour is delivered elsewhere and not to the store.
Very odd answer (delivery of flour) because Lidl don't bake from scratch...their stuff arrives made and part-baked - they don't have the room, staff, time or inclination in their stores.
