In the climate of our economy we all have to make sacrifices. At least there will be rise in the pension, even though it will be small.

Easy for me to say a sit dont affect me yet but on balance am not dead against it as the double lock means 2.5% or inflation whichever is the highest so pensioners wont be worse off in real terms. Pensioners who have saved into private pensions too dont do too bad as theres no NI only tax to pay and theres the winter fuel pay and travel passes, but my only concern is that are basic pension is lower than in many major countrys.
Politically though I think they missed a trick, they could of changed it to something more abit more generous like inflation + 1% and then recooped some of the money by making some pensioner benefit's (say winter fuel and maybe christmas bonus and bus travel passes) taxable so only the better off pensioners would pay the extra tax
Actually, I think it's shocking ! I thought the triple lock was safe with them (lol). I, myself will be ok as I've always been a good saver and came into quite a bit when my beloved parents died, BUT that doesn't mean I am complacent, I know there will be a lot of poor pensioners out there living on the barest minimum who will be terrified now wondering how on earth they will pay the ever rising heating bills this year. It shouldn't be like that for pensioners, it's not nice getting older and older what with infirmities and disabilities that always come with age. We ALL get old and should remember that when targeting pensioners.
