Lutein Supplement

Had an eye test today and the optician suggested I buy some Lutein supplements from somewhere like Holland and Barrett.
Have just had a look on their website and they are on offer, but still a bit pricey for me.
Anyone have any knowledge of them and can you recommend any particular brand? TIA.

when i had an eye test the optician told me that i was colour blind and i'll tell you i had no idea , it came completely out of the green

Apparently the suggested daily dosage is 10mg. The Holland and Barrett ones I looked at are 6mg.

Barsel - I have to go to the eye hospital regularly for a severely damaged eye. To protect the other one I have on more than one occasion been recommended Ocuvite with Lutein.
I get mine online or in the shop at Boots where they have a 3 for 2 offer on supplements. 30 capsules are about £12 so you get 90 caps for about £24.
Expensive but I think are the ones containing lutein are the best.

Thank you Rosie. I had an appointment with my GP this morning and mentioned them to him.
He seemed to think they used to be on prescription, but he didn't check so I went to Boots and bought 3 for 2 so it cost me £22.
I'll check up on whether I can get them on prescription as I would get them for free.
I'll enquire when I go to pick up my glasses on New Years Eve.

I can't speak for everyone but 2 people in my household take them and can't get them on prescription even though their consultants told them to take them.
I suppose different health trusts may have different rules and England, Scotland, Wales and N. Ireland could be different again
