I seem to be the bearer of sad news today. Sorry. I just hope a third thread like this won't happen. :0(

Keith Chegwin. Damn predictive text.
A real bubbly character.

RIP Janice.

Yes she was Mamya, as was her brother.
This is very sad, she was a superb broadcaster, deeply knowledgeable, clever & witty.

RIP Janice.
Ah no! That is so sad. I used to listen to her radio show years ago and watch her on TOTP.

RIP Janice
The music world mourns yet another loss, RIP Janice Long
Oh, that's sad news. Janice was a fixture for teenaged Mozz back in the 80s and I used to listen to her midnight - 3am Radio 2 show quite a lot too.

RIP Janice.
She was the first female presenter of TOTP, IIRC.
That may have been Annie Nightingale Jim.
Annie co-presented TOTP only once (along with 18 others), three months before Janice's first stint as sole presenter.
the Guardian says she was the first "regular" female presenter. The BBC says "Long presented Top of the Pops for five years - again, the first woman to do this" but that's a bit unclear

That rules her out then, OK.

Accolade to Janice, a great lady.
Only just reading that
Very sad
She was such an enthusiastic dj and presenter

RIP
oh can I make the usual suspects grizzle and whine ? Recollect Private Eye, hate object of some (right thinking of course!) suspects - and their resident poet.

To Janice Long - who didnt live long - E J Thribb 17 1/2.

whine away you proles!
No a whine, just dismay at your disrespect.
I was really sad and shocked to hear this. I listen to Greatest Hits radio and she had a weekend slot. I loved listening to her, she was professional and friendly with it. She often spoke of her dogs who she obviously loved. I'm sure she was on only a couple of weeks ago. Not old at 66. I'll miss her.
Sad that neither she or her brother lived to any great age.
So sad. Only 66. Oh my, I’m stunned.
