it's 99p for some pints in the Spoons. I go to a non Spoons regularly and 2 pints are £6.40. London seems to be taking the peace!

My Town centre pubs are inexpensive.
Spoons has Ruddles at 99p (don’t forget to wipe your feet on your way out).
More typical pricing for cask ales £2.55 Holts and £2.80 Robinsons. £2.10 for random guest ales.
Boddingtons is £2.20 and not bad for keg.

thing is though gromit, is the 99p tag enough to make you slumb it in Spoons?

Why do people say that?

The truth is Tim has spent a lot of money restoring buildings and kits them out in an inexpensive but functional fashion. True some were badly chosen but he tends to get shot of them when the lease runs out - happened to the one in Boscombe.

I have been in many 'Spoons around the country. I have never seen a fight or experienced 'sticky carpets'. I have even stayed in the one in Bridport and I have to say for the price it was excellent (And I have stayed in 5* hotels over the years courtesy of employers).
I bet Gromit sups in a flat roofer TTT, it would be a huge upgrade to sup in a 'Spoons.
I'll be off to my local tonight. A 5 minute walk from my house for a pint of Carling priced at £3.20 :)
Something for everyone in there - a couple of bandits in the back room; a pool table; a DJ playing music of your choice and karaoke on request ...... a great atmosphere as well.
We drink in London quite a lot, and yes, it is expensive, but the pubs/bars probably have some of the dearest rates in the country. They'll soon close if people don't drink there because of the prices, but I can't see it somehow. I think that any closures will largely be due to working from home.

I don't drink beer, but our pub sells a good local brew for £3.20 a pint.
At the price they're talking about OH would have a whiskey.
Would I pay 7 quid a pint? If it was the right place I think I would. The last thing I look for is the price ... I am looking for a proper pint of cask beer. This month I have had a pint of Bass, Tim Taylor Boltmaker, Sharpes Doombar, Robinsons Unicorn, Purple Moose Dark Side Of THe Moose, Tim Taylor Landlord, Conwy Brewery Welsh Pride, Conwy Brewery Clogwyn Gold, Marstons Pedigree, and a stonking John Willie Lees Bitter. The most I paid was £3.50 in the bar of a 5 star hotel and the least 99p in Wethers Llandudno. Incidently in a stunning listed building with a superb domed ceiling that is about 100ft high. Spotless clean because we wipe our feet on the way in. These pints have been enjoyed as far apart as Beaumaris, Betwys Y Coed, Conwy, Caernarfon, Llandudno, Rhos On Sea, and Ruthin. Sometimes twice. It is all part of my scouting mission after the lockdowns to make sure that we are still civilised.
Any excuse eh Togo;-)
It's true...... (^_*)
Young, I don't think Wetherspoon's carpets are particularly cheap. Each one is different and specifically designed to compliment the building or the area. This week's 'Wetherspoon's Carpet of the Week' comes from Bexhill's Picture Playhouse and is rather splendid.
You must try the Landudno Wethers ymb the Colwyn Bay one is not a good place.
Probably why beer brewing kits are sold.
A pint's about £3.50 where I am.

I like to support local businesses, so I go to proper pubs rather than wspoons even though it's more. You'll miss the independent local boozers when they're gone, trust me.
Sorry, forgot to answer the question.

Yes I probably would if I had to. I'd just drink less.
No. If it’s over a fiver, I would go away.
