Why Is It Taking So Long

after tobacco advertising was banned in the media to introduce similar bans for alcohol & gambling. Such things are seen as harmful and/or harmfully addictive so shouldn't their advertising come under the same strictures?

Tobacco advertising was banned on TV in this country in 1965, with print adverts and billboard posters being banned in 2003. At that time it was illegal to advertise gambling. It only became legal to do so in 2007.
It could be argued though that using tobacco products is harmful to everyone who does so, whereas alcohol consumption and gambling are only harmful to a minority of people who enjoy those activities.

Ban car adverts, anything in fact that advertises a product that needs self control from the user.
