Gmail Account Problems

hi

have just bought a samsund galaxy tab 2 and am trying to set up a gmail account, i get half way through to the bit where you put in your alternative email address for recovery and can't move onto the next screen, the next button is not lit up. can i try to set up this account on my desktop pc and just sign in on the tablet or do you need to create the gmail account on the tablet?

GMail is web based and can be accessed from any computer that is online.
