There was a discussion on here recently about members using different user names. I know how to change my avatar but have no idea how to change my user name. Could anyone explain how I can do this please?

You can’t change your username. Only the Ed can do it

You CAN'T change the username associated with your existing account. (The Ed declared a 'username amnesty', back in 2013, that allowed people to ask for a change in their username but, apart from that, it's never been possible).

The posts that you were reading related to people setting up completely NEW accounts (using a different email address to do so).

Email the Editor and explain your reason for wanting to change , if they are considered valid then they'll let you know.

Don't expect it to be granted on a whim.

You cannot have more than one account at the same time so you would need to end your current one before following MAYDUP's advice.

I used to have a second account that I could use if suspended - many people did. This was because AB used to have robots would would suspend you automatically for posting more than twice in a couple of minutes, on the grounds that you must be a spambot.

Now of course one can only be suspended by humans (and Mods).

I had a valid reason for changing my name and did so with the then Ed’s agreement. That was 16 years ago. Email the ed and ask her.
