I booked a day off for the rugby as I have a ticket my manager has declined a day off game that starts at 2.15 and normally I finish at 4 I've had last few Saturday off or later kicks off earlier finishes. What can I do?

If you've had the last few Saturdays off maybe someone else wanted the day. What does your contract say about working weekends. Maybe you have to work one in three or similar

Seems a bit mean if you booked a day off a month in advance. As suggested, could you swap with a colleague? Up to you just how important it is.

Did you book it off a month ago or did you request it a month ago?

A request for a day off needs only a minimum of a day's notice of a refusal so you should have made sure you got the confirmation before buying the ticket.

Have you informed the lady who has seen your CV and will be contacting you (for another job, i presume) that you must have time off to watch the rugby?
