She was quite constrained, grumpy, and for her age, very good - far better than Paul 'MyVoiceisdead' McCartney or Elton Bog. I watched about 10 minutes of it, truly awful, just a load of luvvies fawning over each other and so out of touch with the real world, most of them probably spent thousands and took all day getting ready to attend, shameful with what is happening in the world.
Who did you expect to see on The Baftas, peter?
Never understood the appeal of watching BAFTAs and Oscars. More enjoyment in the weather forecasts. IMHO, of course.
The year of Rain Man was special for that very reason.
If Shirley Bassey was the best part of the show then it must have pretty bad.I know she is popular but to me she goes OTT.

Rebel Helen was dreadful and, though I am far from being a prude, jokes about her Aboriginal links and 'after all, we all come out of a bush' were not appropriate for the event or the little fact that it was said well before the watershed hour for adult viewers on the Box. I switched off as, not only this, but the early speeches were grim.

Well done to the 'Boiled Bacon & Cabbage' TV station for putting on such garbage, worthy of a hotel trash bin.
That “joke” about we all come from the bush was disgusting.
Hairist.
well grumpy, you and I are in agreement - uncalled for at the time, indeed the event. Stephen Fry must have been turning on his sofa - even innuendo it was not - it was plain crass.
