Sky satelite box

I've got a fairly old sky box ,with sky subscription card and I'd like to update the box to one that i can choose .I've got a feeling that the sky box and card have to be configured so that they both work together(i think).Is there any way that i can buy a new box and get them both to work together.

Keep your old card and put it in the new box..then ring sky and they`ll do it over the phone
