According to Guinness World Records, in terms of the world's population at the time, it wasn't the largest empire as a percentage of that population.

"By share of population, the largest empire was the Achaemenid Empire, better known as the Persian Empire, which accounted for approximately 49.4 million of the world’s 112.4 million people in around 480 BC – an astonishing 44%. Originating in modern-day Iran, the empire was first established by Cyrus the Great and included parts of Central Asia, the Mediterranean, North Africa, and even European territories such as ancient Thrace and Macedonia."
what would India be without the railways?
oh - I know - Africa!
Precisely 4 countries, apart from the UK, have the Union Flag as part of their flag, Australia, New Zealand, Fiji and Tuvalu.
Sackcloth and ashes here hanging my head in shame -and if you believe that you’ll believe anything.
Bermuda is not a country (at the moment) but an Overseas Territory of the UK, one of a number which do have the Union Flag as part of theirs.
It's strange to me that in a country were we have so much to be proud of, so much wonderful music and literature, art and architecture, science and discovery, that ol' Tora decides that it's our conquering and rule of foreign nations that he will beat his chest about.
I’m proud of our history too.

Persever, even one of the US states has the union flag on its flag.
You said plenty of countries. I pointed out there were 4.

Yes Hawaii, apparently because of a long time connection with the Royal Navy, and a number of Canadian provinces have the Union Flag, but they are not countries.
