Absolutely amazing!
Love the owl. What a privelige..
WOW terrific, I'll bet that it isn't light weight either.
They're surprisingly light Tony. I've held an Eagle Owl before and they weigh very little. Their hollow bones reduce the weight considerably.

Magnificent critter.
What a wonderful experience. Beautiful creature.
Ah hollow bones, thanks Mozz.

I think the article stated that they only weigh about 1.5lbs. Lightweight but intimidating ;)
Very light for it's size.
Thanks, Pasta...just fantastic! We went to a birds of prey demo once. The owl took a liking to my red hair and kept making for my head.
Such wonderful birds.
Having, like Mozz, experienced a similar event with a smaller "tame" owl, I suspect this bird has in the past also been trained to come to a perch on a held-out arm.

But of course, to imply it's completely wild, sexes up the story.

Nevertheless, this doesn't detract from the fact that it is a magnificent bird, and these are spectacular pics.

Thanks for the link pasta freak.
Brilliant photo, pasta. There used to be a couple of those at Coombe Martin Wildlife Park in North Devon. They also had a couple of European Eagle Owls. They are huge and amazing to see close up.
We've not had a visit from the Barn Owl for some time, which is disappointing. He would occasionally perch on our back fence. One of those Great Greys would make it collapse!
Oh WOW that is an absolutely brilliant picture. What a stunning bird. I have a friend who is absolutely crackers on owls and I'm always trying to find owl related things for birthdays and Christmas !

I live across from a park, and look forward to hearing the calls of the owls as I fall asleep. I'm sure it's a lot smaller...but such a lovely sound.
