I have this mount and it has been brilliant
https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/114578612364?epid=7034366609&hash=item1aad6ae08c:g:OPAAAOSw9hdZ7LHI

Problem is the holder now sags whilst in use, making it difficult to see the screen. The holder is supposed to be moved up and down to make sure it is in the right position for the driver but it doesn't hold that position.

Any idea of a fix before I spend money on a replacement?

I know it's a long shot, but any idea? Or can anyone point in the right direction to get a fix?
Cant you find the ideal position then run some superglue around the loose ball fixing?
Question Author
I thought about that, it's worth a try, thanks
Do you have it stuck to the windscreen or dashboard? If you have it stuck to the windscreen could you try it on the dashboard instead? The different angle could make the friction work again. If the dashboard won't accept a suction fix you can get this sort of thing from Halford's which is a site cheaper than a new mount:

bhg, it's stuck to the dashboard

I could buy a replacement but it's an expensive option and a waste of an otherwise good mount. Wish I could find a way to detach the head and wrap something around the ball
If you do decide to buy another one make very sure that you buy the right one. TomTom make several which look very much the same but aren't. I have a 6100 with that sort of mount and I upgraded to the camper version which also has that type of mount; they are NOT interchangable.
Just out of interest I looked on TomTom's website and they're cheaper on there than the EBay seller you found.

Thanks, both. I'll have a go with the superglue, it will be a few weeks before I need to use it so plenty of time to get a replacement if needs be
It could be worth just trying it on the windscreen in the meantime but the cable might be in the way. You have to rotate the screen through 180deg and that just might improve the friction.
You can seperate the ball joint Barry. Brute force and a little twist does it. Then perhaps a bit of emery cloth on your ball( Made my eyes water) . :))

The ball and socket went together, they'll come apart with the help of a husky helper.
Togo and I are always on the same wavelength. :-)

I'll try a good tug.

Pulled my shoulder but did it! I'm going to try putting some rubber around the ball
//I'll try a good tug.//

Well I suppose you have your reasons. :))
Watching the video above, how about putting something like a small piece of card behind one or more of the 4 the springs so they grip the ball socket better. Prise them with a small screwdriver and push the card pieces in. Or even plastic cut from say a milk bottle.
Once apart add a drop of Loctite to the socket, re-assemble at the angle you require. The Loctite will hopefully 'fill' the worn parts and sufficient friction will be restored.

Thanks for all your help, folks. It is fixed. I realised the small nylon/plastic tab off a phial of eyedrops was a perfect fit to go in the back of the cavity and it should be hard wearing enough to last a few months at least - and plenty more where that came from.

Thanks again - I knew I could rely on you :)
