My sister (doesn't have a clue re ATMs etc) but asked me to lift £250 with her card.
Because this is extremely unfrequent I had attached her pin number (on paper) to the card.
I lifted the said amount and put it in my own purse which had £100 and of course my own debit cards and other cards.
After I lifted the money I went to Sainsburys to buy about literally 5 items. I was busy picking out the nectar card for the assistant and moving the groceries along.
Next thing a young girl of about 30 passed me my purse which I had left on the "not moving" area and said "this is yours".
My God I have been so lucky as I have said my sister's account could have been wiped out as you can lift £1000 a day in the Post Office.
I am so grateful tonight - I really am. Thank you

When I was working as a railway station supervisor, we had a handbag handed in as lost property. There were no fewer than 14 debit or credit cards in it. Further, there was a collection of 14 slips, which should have been destroyed shortly after receipt, showing all of the PINs for those cards.
There was also sufficient ID in the bag to enable me to phone its owner. I started to say "Look, it's really not my job to lecture you . . ." but she interrupted me with with "Yes, yes, I know. You simply can't believe just how much I've been panicking since I realised that I'd lost my bag. I promise to change all of the different PINs to just a single one and REMEMBER it, instead of having it written down!"
She was INCREDIBLY lucky that a fellow traveller had handed her bag to the train's conductor, who then brought it to my office. Someone else might simply have headed to the three cash machines at the station and started to empty her bank accounts and make cash withdrawals on her credit cards!

There are more decent and honest people about than we give credit for.
I wouldn’t dream of using someone else’s cards. I have handed in wallets and cards at least three times. If someone did the dirty on me or my wife I’d feel sick. She once had £1,000 taken from a card fraud. She was refunded, it was a corrupt official.
