but I am sad. My fabulous neighbour who makes all my calls to England and elsewhere fell on Sunday in the hall and is in hospital and has broken her shoulder (don't know the ins and outs) her daughter rang me from hospital on voice mail.

I honestly don't know what she is going to do as she has had a knee replaced some two years ago and over the years had her hips (scraped?) - she is riddled with arthritis.

Also has extreme problems with bowel that she is up nearly every night trying to go.

Her sister who was coming home from America anyway for a holiday is due next week and I believe a very good nurse albeit she is 80 years old - she'll be there. I am terribly annoyed about this.

I got talking to her on Sunday for seconds as nurses were fussing round her and preparing her for an operation to her shoulder.

Also because of the pandemic delay she was to get her toes broken and straightened. If you see her feet - don't know how she walks on them. Ok - thanks for listening

She sounds lovely, jj. Sorry I don't have any real advice, just obviously give her the support you can. Best wishes to her xx

I know Douglas - I wakened up earlier screaming with pain in my legs (like I'm not a screamer) but did this morning. But with moving about I have started to get better. I am trying to count my blessings too.
It sounds as though she's had more than her fair share of problems. But it looks like she has a good friend in you. I suppose you can do no more than be a good friend to her.
Our hopes that things turn around for her now.
Similar thing happened to a relative of my neighbours relative. Broke knee, got home from hospital after knee replacement with covid, then taken back in with norovirus. Got home again only to end up falling again this time breaking hip!
What a lovely, very brave lady you have the privilege of knowing. It is horrible when things like this happen to people like this.
Today, here, a wonderful woman was putting the finishing touches to her spectacular 'Jubilee' flower arrangements in the church - when she slipped. She already walks only with the aid of a stick and has now smashed her shoulder. Life isn't fair. She's cheerful about it, somehow.
People like your friend and this lady give us all a clue as to how to go on.
