I saw that sign on the side of a bin lorry this morning. In these straitened times is it likely that much food waste will find its way into the wrong bin?

We have quite a selection of bins up here.
Black - household waste
Blue - paper and cardboard
Burgundy - plastic, tins, aluminium and tetra packs
Brown - garden waste
Small green/black caddy bin for waste food

Unfortunately no bin for glass.

>>> I thought everyone in the UK had a food bin

We haven't yet learned to cope with such complexities here in Suffolk, Tigger. All folk around here know is that the big, scary wheeled monster (that frightens everyone each Monday morning) likes green food one week and black food the next. We're not sure that we'll be able to cope if it switches to a more complicated diet. We're only poor, simple folk in these parts!
In Corby, we have brown for recycling, green for garden waste, black for non-recycling and a green caddy for food waste.

I had a look at our neighbouring town, Kettrinmedook and they're wanting shredded paper put in an envelope or a paper bag.
That wheeled monster is the scaffie wagon...
Good to know that Devon isn't alone in being backwards.
Absolute rubbish, we had this on our black bin and do our best to keep to it but 10 mins walk down the road a block of council flats have big dumpy bins into which goes everything.
