Had a power cut tonight. One long one for about 20 minutes then 3 quick ones only a second or too. I was sat in the down stairs loo at the time, very strange to be in complete darkness there. I flushed the loo then wished I hadn't! It filled the loo up to the very top then didn't empty at all.
Checked with next door and they were off too, looked around and no lights any where as far as I could see.
I was just lighting four candles when we came back on.
It felt weird as OH isn't here. He is on his way home from holiday in France, due round about midnight.

Although it’s getting better slowly we have frequent power cuts, Caran. Lots of villagers have backup generators.
We keep prepared but it’s the middle of the night ones that I don’t know about until the power comes back on and Alexa turns on every bloody light and contraption in the house!

There was a powercut on Saturday in my area in the afternoon it was back on by 7 pm

On the loo in total darkness. Must have been like being in the black hole of Calcutta. In the early 1970's I'd have given away all my fluorescent tubes to be cut off for just 20 minutes. It used to be many hours before the lights came back on. 20 minutes... You don't know you've been born!

Was there thunder but no lighting in the downstairs loo?

Not sure what the loo has to do with the electricity failure - or if we needed to know that.
