To be an advocate tells me that EJ has challenged politics as well as the public. Therefore, I believe this is about politics. EJ set up the Elton John AIDS Foundation some 30 years ago and at this event vowed to double his efforts. EJ has his main home in America and is entitled to have opinions and follow a political party as he chooses.
