Olives

At my local market today they were selling fresh olives. These were green and looked like extra large peas.
I love olives but didn't buy any as I don't know what to do with them once i got them home. I usually buy olives in jars. Have I got to pickle these??

We get quite a lot of oil, pasta, but the neighbours help themselves to that.

I've just bought a loaf of sourdough with olives...maybe bruschetta for lunch tomorrow...providing today's Covid booster doesn't hit too hard.

Pasta, yes, the topping is tapenade.
Maybe there’s confusion between ‘fresh’ and ‘raw’ in olive terms.
I’ve had some delicious ‘fresh’ ones, and some horrible ‘fresh’ ones, I personally don’t think it makes much/any difference if you buy them in a jar or on the deli counter.

Pasta //bruschetta is the toast, not the topping. Though the word is often used to describe toast that's topped with chopped seasoned tomatoes.//

You may be correct, but here in Deutschland I buy small jars called, 'Bruschetta Schwarze Olive' (black olive bruschetta) produced in Tuscany - just down the road.
It's what the French might call Tapenada but without the anchovies and capers.
