More Stick or Threat if they come banging on my door. Had some turn up at 10.30 a few years back, accompanied by 2 drunk adults. Swapped a few insults with them then sent them packing.
I was asked last night what I missed about living in the UK. There are three things and one is Trick or Treating. I created a fun and spooky hall. The kids and some parents wore fantastic costumes. I think I learned to enjoy Halloween night when I lived in Canada.
I'd do it here but nobody comes down the lane. :-( Have had some fun today in the village though. :-)
We have a village full of young people happily joining in the fun for the last two days. They'd be a bit daft to trek up this lane for one house, Roadman.
Some years ago I was hiven a card with a witch on a broomstick and the words "sorry, no trick or treat". It's meant for older people who don't want to be disturbed. I stick it on the front door, no problem. I wouldn't mind if it was the youngsters across the road but they don't do it.
So the suggestion is that if you want to be left alone and not bothered by demands for a random to avoid getting something nasty done to you, you must sit in the dark all night ? How about folk not participating in something that is clearly antisocial behaviour in the first place ? Nor teaching their offspring that it's the right thing to do.
