...cold yet and we're already seeing Christmas adverts on the telly.
Far too early do you think?

I've just checked and see it hasn't. Was thinking today was the 6th.
But whatever the date it still seems early for Xmas ads.
Heard my first one yesterday.
Bit early to write the bonfires off yet Sandy.
It's when the eleventh night ones are still warm and you see ads for Christmas lunches in pubs ... (!)
On one of the TV channels my oldsters watch there has been adverts for artificial Christmas trees since July and ads for Christmas savings clubs since February.

It is always too early, so I actively ignore Christmas and then panic when I realise it's only a week away.
The Christmas savings one is sort of understandable ...
Well you couldn't have been watching much tv as the adverts have been going for over 2 weeks!!!!
Love the M & S food one!!!!
Is it just the Protestants have bonfires on the 5th in NI.
I know they don't have them in the South (for, maybe, obvious reasons)

It's not a thing here in N I.
Halloween is one of the few holidays enjoying by both Protestants and Catholics.
Ah, right. I knew Halloween was big in Eire. Bank Holiday, I seem to remember.
Commercial concerns are all about making money. We should be grateful Christmas ads don't start on New Years day.

But yes, for normal folk it's still a bit early, but one should expect them to start in earnest sometime during November as, for some, there's a lot of preparation and buying to do; and for some strange reason, 11pm Christmas Eve at the service station doesn't appeal to many as the gift purchasing time.

If only people didn't buy into it. Perhaps then we would not be inundated with these malapropos tv adverts.
I record everything to watch when it suits me so I never see adverts. I zoom through them. I might make the effort for these special ones though.
// there's a lot of preparation and buying to do//

Will not Xmas purchases be limited by the cost of living crises?
The Christmas decorations were being put up in the mini mall where my Sainsbury's and Wilko are. Don't know about the big mall.
All the shops have had Christmas food and gifts out for weeks. It just adds to the seasonal depression that I get.
