I bought sister a wee cheapie digital radio for her to get a certain station on it. She does have a large hi-fi and another 3 radios but they are not digital.

Anyway I already opened the radio and it said to insert batteries and it was also electric plug as well.

She rung me through the week to say that the batteries operated didn't work - she would have liked this to work as she could then listen to the radio whilst in bed.

I know I have put the batteries in correctly as I have been doing this all my life. I am going over tomorrow to look at it and see what has gone wrong.

Could anybody tell me what I could look for to fix the problem. Thanks for any answers.

Am thinking to myself because it is digital - she didn't know to turn it on perhaps.
Perhaps the batteries only come into play if there is a power cut. Plug it in and see what happens.

Yes The Winner - it works when she plugs it in but she would like the batteries to work too.
does she "unplug" the mains lead from the radio, so the batteries then come into play?
Question Author
I don't know Winner - she really doesn't understand any techie - I was thinking that myself. I will take the plug out myself tomorrow.
let us know how you go on.

Take a fresh set of batteries with you jj, just in case the ones that are in the radio are flat for some reason !!
DAB radios eat batteries at an alarming rate.
