in a room of 23 people there is a 50% chance that 2 of them share the same birthday (month and day)?

carrot99, it does not work like that. What you have to do is, starting with one person, work out the probability that another person does not have the same birthday (364/365) and then keep adding people, calculating the probabilitie s and multiplying them. Your calculation should be ( 364/ 365) x( 363/ 365) x( 362/ 365) x... etc. When this product drops below...

carrot, if you had 32 days that would be a 100% chance of two of them being born on the same day. For a 50% chance you'd need fewer.
