Cut Or Colour Hair First?
52 Answers
I have short ish highlighted blonde hair and am looking to achieve the best result from a cut and a colour. I always have my hair cut dry for precision cutting.
There seem to be arguments to cut first and colour first.
Colouring then cutting allows any damaged ends to be removed after the colouring process and allows the hairdresser more hair to 'grab onto' while foiling.
On the downside, if you colour then cut highlighted hair, you can end up with augmented lines which gives you a stripier effect, as you chop into the colour.
Cutting first (dry) then applying the colour might then give the hairdresser a harder job to get a foil over shorter hair. However, it apparently gives a cleaner look.
Does anyone have any advice. The general preference of salons seems to be colour then cut, but several specialists online suggest this is not always the case.

Sqad, absolutely my response on yesterday's thread was indeed pathetic,it was the only word I felt safe in putting to the screen when I saw not only a repeat snipe at carelvt and others, a calling up of a 'wrong' answer that was right and yet more constant bleating re Best answers.
One thing I would say is that your obvious dissatisfaction with the way this site is run would be best served by a full and frank report to the Editor.

Mamy!...mamy!...LOL.....LOL......LOL
The Ed would have no interest in my observations of AB, as i have indeed made certain suggestions which have gone unheeded.......perhaps with good reason.
My adverse remarks need not go to the Headmaster, as any prefect worth his/her value would deal with this at ground level.
You may indeed describe my comments as "bleating" that is your right and privilege, but to me they are symptoms of an underlying disorder, insignificant at the moment, but if not addressed will deteriorate to the detriment of the website.
Just my thoughts.

Just returned to check the replies and was very excited to see 46 replies, only to see the majority were about people arguing about categorisation of topics.
I did not realise there was a sub section and have always just posted in the 'body and soul' forum, thinking it was an all encompassing section.
Thank you to those who offered some tips though.
