Is this reference to 'fishers' to appease the woke society? They've been known as fishermen all this time and I do realise there may be women working in the industry but really?

as OG points out, the word has been round since Matthew 4:19 - in English, at least Wycliffe's version of 1394. Or Woke-liffe, as I expect his critics called him.
