I am an avid reader still. Read all of the books mentioned previously some more than twice. I am a sci-fi lover and have read all of Neil Asher's output(again sometimes more than once). I have read all of Game of Thrones, in sequence as published and before the Amazon TV series. Read David Hair's Moontide Quartet and Patrick Rothfuss's The Name Name Of The Wind and The Wise Man's Fear.( waiting still for the 3rd and final novel in the trilogy) Enjoyed them all immensely and read late into the night on many occasions. Perhaps my favourite book though, is Peace and War by Joe Haldeman. It is a trilogy of The Forever War(1974), Forever Peace(1976) and Forever Free(1999) I read the first two and once owned first edition hardback of both. Sadly gone. :(( They were the books that started my sci fi infatuation and it still remains.)The books were all remarkably prescient in their own way. Recommended.

I first read the Lord of the Rings trilogy over 55 years ago when a work colleague lent me the three hardbacks then extant. I became completely captivated, often reading well into the small hours.

Good to see Candide featured here (thanks Jim), another book I love.

I'm surprised no Jane Austen appearing, which might explain the paucity of responses to my earlier post

(which I kid myself was what inspired Ed to raise this one LOL)

Jane Austen's Pride & Prejudice is another of my favourites. The television adaptation with Colin Firth and Jennifer Ehle is the best ever - and, so importantly, it remains true to the book.
