Nobody knows. We've had so many dodgy predictions by idiots who think they know what they're talking about. Both this and last summer were supposed to be hotter than the gobi dessert.

You cannot accurately predict the weather over 5 days before.

But....i too hope we get really snowed in with 6' of the white stuff cos i love sledging and it's great seeing the dog and the kids having a superb time !!!
I love snow - deeper the better!

It's so sad having to watch Mr. Snowman melt into a puddle of slush though!

(Or should I have said: Snowperson)!!!!
This just proves exactly what hammerman has said..nobody knows. I took this extract from sunflower's link.

"For this winter, wetter-than-average conditions are favoured over central and southern Europe, although for the UK, there is approximately even chance of a wetter-or drier-than-average winter.

Last winter saw much drier-than-average conditions across northern Europe and all parts of the UK - much as last autumn's forecast had suggested. In the south-east of England this was the continuation of a long period of dry weather starting in November 2004, continuing through to the summer of 2006".

Talk about hedging your bets, even from the mighty Met Office!
Hi,try this site http://www.metcheck.com/V40/UK/HOME/

They're excellent on a day to day basis and not bad for long term forcasts.

The Met Office says 'mild & wet', because of the El Nino situation.
It always makes me pretty angry when the media say "it's the hottest/dryest/wettest/coldest month since 1920 for example and it proves that global warming is on the increase"

Utter bo**ocks.....all that tells me is it must've been pretty warm/wet/dry/cold back in 1920 and no one barked on about global warming then.

And then you get the local weather on TV who have just held an interview with dear uncle scrunge who's 120 years old and can tell it will be a cold winter because the cows were facing due west on the 27th August and his 300 year rose bush had 20 flowers on this year rather than the normal 19

Pah !!!
