Article in Telegraph today about reintroducing wild cats to Scotland
Includes a picture on one with an expression on its face, which says
“Now is maybe not the time to put any of your cute pussy theories to the test”
Sincerely hope they don’t release the one pictured anywhere near my gaff.
Can’t post a link to picture as my torygraph I’d a hard copy , but you might find it via telegraph online, if you pay , of course

"The Scottish wildcat is the only native member of the cat family still found in the wild in Britain, and is a protected species. As few as 35 were thought to remain before the kittens find, according to estimates by the Scottish Wildcat Association, making the species one of the world's rarest animals"

They are in their purebred form as wild and fierce as any of their big cat cousins. Unfortunately there has been so much hybridization with domestic cats there are very few pure specimens, To prevent further dilution with domestic moggies they will probably be in fenced reserves for the foreseeable future.

I have seen many photos of Wildcats, they all show a very fierce looking and angry animal.
I think that most domestic cat slaves are likely to have seen their own little bundle of fluff turn into a demon in less than a second. I was shredded by my own girl cat. I still love Cats.
Hopefully they will find a way of protecting the Wildcat.

I read somewhere, feeble brain can’t remember, that there is a programme to ensure the genetic purity of the original strain. I can’t for the life of me think how they would do that. Except by removing all the non pure animals. Sounds like eugenics to me, and, first catch your feral, non pure, cat. Good luck with that!
