I thought it was much better than I was expecting. Kept close to the story apart from the swearing and Biddy is the same age as Pip.

Don't think I'll bother - the John Mills, Alec Guiness, Martita Hunt, and the delectable Jean Simmons version can't be surpassed IMO.
I've read all the reviews from the critics and won't be watching! I don't like it when they mess about too much with the classics.

I agree about the 1946 version. According to the critics, it goes downhill from the first episode. Even the Guardian only gave it three!
Has there been a better Magwitch than Finlay Currie?
I'll watch it on iPlayer just to see what it's like.

Well; I had no great expectations, so I didn't watch it, and I wasn't disappointed.
I expected it to be great - as per the title.

Now, if it was called Fantastic Expectations, you might have got your money back :-)
