There are some people on a train. 22 people get off the train at the first stop and 17 people get on the train. Now there are 59 people on the train. How many people were on the train to begin with??

The usual version says something like 10 passengers get on at the first stop and 7 get off at the second and 5 get on, how many people are on the train now... the trick is people forget the driver

I dunno but you can bet the one sat behind he has a cough and doesn't cover their mouth and there's the tssk tssk tssk dum dum dum tssk tssk tssk person sat somewhere close. There will be a snotty kid looking at me over the back of the seat in front called Dwayne with a mother who has 4 other kids by 5 different fathers. It will inevitably be late and it's either February and the heaters don't work, or it's July and they do (and the windows don't open). The Wi Fi is non existent and my ticket, which I swear was in my inside jacket pocket has miraculously disappeared.
Reminds me of one where the person is told a bus contains X amount of people when it leaves the depot. When it stops, x amount get off, x get on, then when it next stops, x get off while x get on. Next stop no-one gets off, x get on. This goes on for about 8 or 9 stops and the person being asked the question is doing his/her mental arithmetic, getting an answer ready for the final question. Which is, "How many times did the bus stop?"
