British troops are being trained to check passports as fears grow over striking border force staff.
But if the soldiers want to directly detain any criminals they will have to call the striking Border force to arrest them. ?????

If they detain a criminal they detain them and hand them over to the police who also patrol ports and airports. It's called a citizen's arrest. Use to be under the Criminal Law Act but I am sure PP will soon dive in and lecture us on current procedures.
