Could I have proof, ideally with a UK Gov link or a Citizens Advice link or someone who is in a position to know. Not guesswork please.

Apologies if that sounds snotty but I am already tearing my hair out having spent a day and a half trying to sort this out.

AA is supposed to be something nice the Government does for terminally ill folk.

Big thank you if anyone can help.

I agree, I think he'd be constantly pining for you, and that is so sad. :0(

So the government are benefitting by using old timers to care for their loved ones. It is completely unfair. The State Pension really should not be classed as a benefit as such. It's actually what lot of pensioners live on and that should be separate from a care allowance. Pensioners should be able to claim a care allowance.
I really feel for younger people who give up their career/job to care for a loved one, especially when they have a young family to look after as well.
There are many children who are caring for their parents, too.
I don't mind not being able to claim carers allowance, I am not losing out on my income as I'm retired. The attendance allowance they claim is a big help towards the extra costs of looking after them.

Barry thank you so much for your kind words to me in your 11.28 post yesterday. I do get bouts of depression but the main thing I worry about is outliving my lovely little rescue dog. I can't bear to think he could possibly have to go back into Rescue for the umpteenth time in his little life. My children all have their own lives now so are OK. 2/3 people will give me help in the block of flats where I live so that's good. They say they are repaying me for my help over the years, taking in parcels for them etc LOL.
Yesterday was horrific when I got brave and went to a garden centre for plants. The place was massive and I got lost, walking around not able to find my way out. I was hanging onto the plant trolley and gasping for air, almost in tears. So relieved to get back to my car in the end. What a plonker I am.
as far as your wee dog there are things you can put in place to ensure how he is cared for.
I am sending you virtual hugs
I'm glad you've got good neighbours, lb. I have had panic attacks in department stores when I can't see the exits so do feel for you
I too would like to send you a virtual hug. (((HUG)))

Wish there was some advice I could give regarding your dilemma with the car tax.

I wonder if it's worth trying Age Concern? Actually, I'm not sure it's still called that, I think it is now called Age UK. They may be able to advise about the car tax, and also about your wee dog. x
Lots of virtual hugs from me too. I can absolutely understand how you feel. Love Lottie xx

Thank you for your reply Barry, and RH, WW and mT, for your replies and virtual hugs. Oo that's better;-))
I've been sat in the garden for the last couple of hours while my gardener gave it a good weed out, feed and water. She (my gardener) lost one of her two dogs recently so she is considering taking J if necessary. She's brilliant with dogs and he likes her. so that might work if necessary.
BTW I've spoken to Age UK and they didn't really have any answers.
Still got a good few days to sort it out so not flapping and trying to relax.
I've had so much help and support on here so thank you to all. xx
Hi LB, so pleased to see you are feeling a bit more 'relaxed'
I have a section in my will that a set amount of funds is to be set aside for the care of any animals in my care after my demise - if it makes you feel happier and more content could you do the same for your furry friend?
Question Author
Not in my Will RH but my daughter has promised she will make sure that if it should come about that J is left without an owner and one of the two possible guys in this building, or my gardener, take him on, then it won't cost them a penny. She will keep enough money she gets from me to keep him for life, vets' fees, jabs, flea treatment, food, everything. She has a dog herself so she knows what's what and will be fair. Jay is a little brown terrier at least 10 years old but more probably 12/13 years although you would never think so. Terriers can of course live until 18 so he could need a lot of care in later life.

I wish there was a like/love button for your answer x

Wow! Knocked out here:-)
My son will take on our little Poppy Dog if necessary. She loves him to bits. I'm sure the that he would make sure our three cats are OK too.

It takes a lot of worry off your mind doesn't it Lottie, knowing they will be cared for if you die before they do.
Somebody raised an interesting point last night. It was that J would be better going to someone outside of these flats as he would want to keep coming back to me and my flat and I wouldn't be here. They thought it would be better for him to go to an entirely new place but nice if it was someone he knew, ie my gardener. I think this could be right and I hadn't thought of it that way.
I agree, I think he'd be constantly pining for you, and that is so sad. :0(

So am I Chris LOL.

WW Thank you, if only they could talk and tell you what they want.
Hopefully, it won't happen and he will go first, but not yet;-)
I hope so too, but not for a long time yet. x
