ITV have announced that Jane Mcdonald is replacing Mr Scofield as host of the Soap Awards?

Is this so Mr Scofield can be freed up to accept his own award - Biggest Star In The Biggest Soap Opera For Years?

I'm not sure the imbalance of power explains it either, Barry. Matt Hancock had got profitable work for his new girlfriend too; and yet for all the political angles - health secretary breaking his own rules, member of a team mishandling Covid - his affair wasn't even a seven-day wonder, just a minor scandal that drew some annoyance and some sniggering; nothing like the ongoing hysteria over Schofield.

Not the same jno, Matt Hancock's girlfriend was the same age as him, not 30yrs + older than the man involved with PS. Even if he was over the age of consent he would be unlikely to have an equal level of maturity or experience to PS

Rosetta, I was addressing Barry's point about the exploitation of power imbalance rather than age difference (which I mentioned in a a previous post): like Schofield, Hancock was in a position to get a lover work and money. I think both are elements but not enough to keep Hancock on the front pages as long as Schofield's been. I think being gay (or bi) is the big difference.

I may be missing something , but the age and status differences were likely to create that very power imbalance between PS and this young man. Blaming homophobia gives a bit of a get out of responsibility for PS rather than accepting full responsibility. I agree with Barry that my personal view would be no different if it had been a heterosexual affair, its bordering on the Me Too campaign

schofield has now be denounced as a ignorant nasty man to all he worked with. all this other story about him treating the younger guy favorably with getting him a job is secondary to that

Not defending Schofield but according to The Sun the chip shop thing happened before he knew he was sacked from This Morning. The photo of him and his mother on the bench should not have been published

whats wrong with doing the driving and sending the non-driver into the shop? we do that all the time if we're together here!
