Private road which only has 3 houses on it and doesnt lead anywhere, it doesnt have a road name on it, so should it? Also the 3 houses are responsible for maintaining the road. Who should or could put a sign on it to say what its called? Thank you

How does the postman find it?
look at the land registry records online they should disclose who the land belongs to and if it is collectively the people who own the houses then you need to contact the district council to allocate new roads and streets and if it is not the people of the house then whoever it is would need to contact the borough or city or district to go about registering the street with a name
Maintenance of a private road will be in the deeds as a positive or negative covenant. I used to live on one. It did have a name but this was not needed in the postal address, just the post code. If there is a name for the road it might be found on the land registry. Ask the local post office they might know
My dad lives in a similar road. The first house in the close has a sign saying “1 ******* Close.
I don’t know if that is by law, or convenience for posties and fellow residents

The name ours had was not on any signpost just local common knowledge. There were 10 houses on the road
