"If you'd like to discuss politics that doesn't relate to a specific story or event, head over to our Politics section." - why then do you allow non news stories to remain in the news section when they are blatant trolling by certain ABers - you know who they are yet allow their nonsense and alienate the genuine posters who would like to discuss actual news but won't engage because of the trolls.

Agreed.
The 'trolls' just love these posts.

Just ignore them.
And where is this politics section please?
It’s not in the main menu !
It’s a sub-section of News.
Clicking on News doesn’t open a sub section
If you go into News you’ll find a link to it in the editor’s initial blurb at the top of the section.
Maybe it’s because on my iPad?
Click on news. Than click on rhe red politics link in ed's post
Go into News and read what the editor says at the top of the page. There’s a red link to the politics section towards the end of it.

The word politics is in red. I checked and it's the same on my mobile -- which, granted, isn't an iPad, but it should appear the same way on both pc and mobile web browsers.
I am also on ipad and can't type due to the heat !
It’s the same on my mobile too.
thanks all, I could only see Politics on my PC, a small plus sign opened it from News
