The Stupid Things We Do

What stupid thing have you done lately?
I prepared Irish Stew and put it in slow cooker for dinner. On returning from work, I found uncooked meal! I had switched on kitchen CD player instead of the slow cooker. Ah well, beans on toast it was.

About 6-7 pm I feel really tired and go and have a lie down on the bed.
Wake up an hour or so later, look at the clock, it's still light so I think, time to get up, it's morning, but then realise I'm already dressed!
It sometimes takes me a while to figure this out!

I was hitching back from the Lake District in my teens, and got dropped off on a really long straight stretch of road, everything seventy miles an hour, stood for two hours.
Then, yippee, and old couple pulled into the layby just up the road.
I picked up my rucksack and jogged up to the car.
They were out of my view, delving into the car boot, obviously making room for my rucksack.
Except, by the time I got about twenty feet away, I realised they were getting picnic things out of the car!
I sort of jogged past, looking like I was on my way somewhere important, smiling as I passed them.
A bit further up, I ran out of breath and stopped. They were looking at me like I was a crazy person!!
And did some kind motorist stop and pick me up to spare my blushes, while they finished their picnic, glancing at me like I must be waiting for a quiet moment to stab them both?
Did they #*^*!!!!

Used to go and watch my son play football on a Sunday morning and decided to put the joint of beef in the oven on a timer ready for lunch. Flaffed about setting the oven and came home expecting a wonderful aroma - nothing - I'd timed the bottom oven and out the meat in the top one. Fish Fingers and chips were a slightly different lunch to the one I planned
To quote Paul Kelly
Welcome, strangers, to the show
I'm the one who should be lying low
Saw the knives out, turned my back
Heard the train coming, stayed out on the track
In the middle, in the middle, in the middle of a dream
I lost my shirt, I pawned my rings
I've done all the dumb things.
Sums me up nicely.
