barsel: "I would think most people have a calculator and if not, you can get them online. " - as demonstrated at 14:21 a calculator is no use if you don;t know the method or can't interpret the result.
16:31, come on it cannot be put any simpler than that.
good job we dont have £ shillings and pence or calculators would need extra buttons/display feature's
In your question the total cost is 164 full units and 71 part units. (Pounds and pence in this instance).
As you are dividing by a greater quantity than the full units (200 is more than 164) the answer is going to be in part units - the 0. shows there is no whole units.
So the answer in easy to understand words is zero full units (£0) and 82 part units (.82p) which written in pounds and pence is £0.82
I suspect that will also be a lalalalalala! barry!
Good luck with that barry, am not sure it helps. (am not sure any of our answers help TBH).
The best answer for Lankeela would probably be "a bit more than 82pence each but less than 83 pence" with no explanations
TTT Lankeela knows the method, but can't quite interpret the result, and I think you must be having a laugh if you think your explanation is simple, and then Barry comes along with units and as you rightly observed, that will be another lalalalalala.
I could have explained it in another way, but felt that might be a bit too complicated.
If someone doesn't understand maths, then it has to be explained simply and not to confuse things even more.

Bobb @ 16.57 is spot on.
barsel: "and I think you must be having a laugh if you think your explanation is simple," - well forgive me but that is about as simple as it gets, what is confusing for you?
this is what I wrote "The relevant factor is 82p the "p" meaning 82 pence now each pence is 100th of a pound so if we have 82 of them we have 82 hundredths of a pound so that is written £0.82. it's still = to 82p but expressed as pounds it's 0.82. " - lankeela was asking where the 0 came from, I thought that explained it as simply as it could be explained. She knows there is 100p in the pound surely??
TTT I didn't say I found it confusing, I meant anyone who doesn't understand how to work it out and understand the answer.
//She knows there is 100p in the pound surely??//
I don't know what she knows TTT but the simple answer to that would be the 0 means no pounds.
I don't know where that question came from, an old maths book perhaps as we don't have half pence anymore.
