I am looking after a friend's fuchsia. When the flowers fall off should I take off the little green thing that is left?

Ideally yes, it's the same as deadheading roses

You could let them turn black, then eat them.

They won't poison you but the cultivars bred for their flowers mostly are not especially tasty, there are some of the specie ( wildtypes) that make interesting jam

Rowan, I've nibbled a few, nervously, and they weren't delicious.
We used to have a snowberry plant and the berries looked quite tempting, but are they OK to eat?
I suppose if fuchsias and snowberries were any good they'd be on sale.
