A fascinating and informative write-up from the BBC on an upcoming movie in which the ever superb actor that is Sir Anthony Hopkins will play long-unsung hero, Sir Nicholas Winton. The movie will tell of how Sir Nicholas, a London stockbroker who was knighted for his humanitarian accomplishments in 2003, helped get young Jewish refugees out of occupied Czechoslovakia in 1938.
What a hero, rescuing these unfortunates from tyranny. Today of course our darling Home Secretary would be shunting them all off to Rwanda, happily support by many Answerbankers.
Geoffrey, holocaust survivors and the families of those who didn't survive may well take offence at that thoughtless remark ... and I wouldn't blame them if they did.
