Sounds like the portfolio manager wasn't told to keep her informed of significant rises. She probably should have checked for herself considering her department but is there evidence it affected her decision making in her professional role?

yeah but no but - that wd be a reason for resignation ( obviously corrupt) (*)
and THAT is why you should declare an interest and recuse ( oneself) from the decision
BUT knowing how to run industry X may be of value when you are "Minister of production of X" and surrounded by Mandarins who have read classics at uni

(*) and THAT is why a judge has more strict reasons to recuse himself on a case because if he IS actively involved, he has to go, lose pension, fire the servants, sell the (big) house etcc

when a council I was on ( had been elected to) decided to commission a painting of Lord Foppington-Poncey to hang on its walls, painted by Mr Far-2-expensive,

I said ( declared) Ay hev to recuse myself from this discussion as I have commissioned Mr Far-2-expensive to paint a piccy of MEEEEEEE!

Needless to say all the councillors came up after and said how much for a private commission.....It was an interesting start to my finance leadership where I tripled the capital base of that council in 6 y . Councillors (such as Sqad will know) were less grateful than jealous
