Why Did I Look Ugly As A Teenager But Handsome As A 25 Year Old?

I looked at a school picture of myself today from when I was in Y11 (2013) and I was shocked at how bad I looked, especially compared to now. My whole facial structure seems to have changed. I would probably say back then I was a 3/10 in looks and now at age 25 probably around a 7/10 (I know the looks scale is silly but it just gives a better general idea), how can a persons face go from being very unattractive to handsome in ten years?

Slight variation on the original question but I can't believe how old people used to look! I have one of those long school photos taken in about 1965 and even though I know that some of the teachers were in their mid twenties they all look to be 40+! The pupils look much older than their ages too, maybe it's being in black and white.

LoL - I went in the opposite direction. When I started uni I thought I was dead ugly. Now I look back at my matriculation photo & cannot believe how handsome I was! If only I had known. Out of 100 or so undergraduates in the photo I reckon I'm easily in the Top Ten (of the men I mean!!). Now though - 40 years later - oh well!!

I'm really, really handsome now, but when i was a toddler, i was so ugly my mam used to feed me with a catapult. She had to tie a bone around my neck so the dog would play with me. But i'm really, really handsome, now.
