Rowan, I think my diet is why I've become anaemic. We've mostly stopped eating red meat, OH won't eat offal of any description so I rarely ever cook it for myself, same with shellfish.

I had been having a small glass of orange juice with each meal for the vit c for iron absorption but stopped that last year, have recently started again though.

postman has just brought a letter from gastro consultant where he states he'd be happy for me to have iron infusions so I'm going to get in touch and see if that can be sorted out.

Its funny how trying to do one thing for a healthier life makes other areas less healthy 🤷‍♀️

Yum, yum.  I grow it in my garden, that way get it nice and fresh.

The best type of of iron is found in animal products and is better absorbed by the body.

Yes I know pasta, it's heme iron as opposed to non heme iron, and that's the problem for me really, with eating far, far less red meat, barely any shellfish and no offal.

Was once very sick after eating it - never again.

My favourite veg. Certainly not slimy when I cook it. Needs very few minutes to steam.

I like a few spinach leaves in a salad or sandwich but you'd have to eat a field full to affect your iron levels.
I don't eat animal products but have good iron levels so if you are lacking then you need a boost to replenish them.

To maintain them, look for cereals and non dairy milk products which are fortified  with vitamins and iron.
