People want faster food when on the road now

I liked Wimpy, occasionally. Better than McDonald's. Not that I have a lot of fast foods..

When my son was little he used to like the mini doughnuts with chocolate dipping sauce

Question Author

I seem to remember they took over their competitor 'Happy Eater'. Their logo was a smiling face putting their fingers down their throat.

Rubber springs to mind.

Question Author

Sorry I was wrong. It was Little Chef who took over Happy Easter

It might be Little Chef who did the mini doughnuts too

At least you got China and knives and forks :)

They used yo do a brown Derby which was a hot donut with ice cream and chocolate sauce. Well worth the 4 hrs of sticking to the back seat of your dad's  vinyl car on a trip to the seaside

Could you get them with a fried egg on top? I think you could.

Now I must admit, Little Chef produced some of the very best photo shoots of their food, but in reality? well they went bust.

Question Author

Oh yes Bednobs. The vinyl seats and no air conditioning. At least you had quarterlight windows you could scoop air in with.

What was your Dad's car? Cortina? Allegro?

Escort mk ii I think. Then Morris ital

I can remember both number plates but don't know my own now

I loved the curved sausage!

Question Author

Is that the one they called the 'bender'

I only opened my wallet one time inside a Little Cef in all the years it opperated, and that was for the loverly breakfast that was displayed on the poster outside. I came away just as hungry as what I was when I went in. The only good point I can think of is that the inside was spotless, but it would be if they don't cook very much.

Not bad on occassion but it was a BK double for me, MacD was too far away on foot from work at the time in the city center. But the best burgers ever were a local cafe/shop near to home.

Ooooh brown derby, yes please
