shineybomb, good shout about the Manics' Bright Eyes. In fact, the whole of the second CD of their Lipstick Traces album is cover versions and has some brilliant covers, notably Last Christmas, Raindrops Keep Falling on My Head and Can't Take My Eyes Off You
Also, Ben Folds- Tiny Dancer, Aimee Mann- One, Arctic Monkeys- Love Machine, The White Stripes- Jolene and I Just Don't Know What to Do With Myself, Reel Big Fish- Take on Me.

I must also mention a one-off covers album by The Replicants that has a mix of superb covers. Highly recommended.
I thought the Pet Shop Boys version of Where The Streets Have No Name was pretty good. Bowie did some good ones on his last couple of albums - Cactus, I've Been Waiting For You, Pablo Picasso, Try Some Buy Some - all very good.
Agree that the Scissor Sisters Floyd cover was dire. Not much of a Floyd fan so I'm not being all precious, I just thought it was rotten. Also agree re the Carey and Houston ones - unlistenable. Art Of Noise and Tom Jones's Kiss was supremely annoying.
